"This image depicts a Feather Star (scientific name Antedon bifida) and a Bloody Henry (Henricia oculata) starfish which were sighted on a rocky shore dive in Connemara. The dramatic red colouring of the Bloody Henry starfish in this photograh is complimented by the delicate arms of the reddish brown Feather Star. Both animals are Echinoderms, a group of animals that are characterised by radial symmetry. This starfish has small tube feet that help it move along the rocks as it feeds on small invertebrates. The Feather Star is a sessile creature and could be mistaken for seaweed due to its plant-like appearance. It has ten arms which trap small particles of food in the seawater."
